A. KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROGRAM

1. Please give a short description of your idea of what the role of a Ranger Mentor is.

2. A major goal of the Ranger Mentors is to help new and inexperienced Rangers become responsible and respectful Rangers. Please describe in your own words your idea of a "Responsible and Respectful Ranger."

B. KNOWLEDGE OF COMMON RANGER SKILLS AND SPELLS

(In each situation below, 1 - 3, pretend I am a student that has come to you for help in what skills and spells are right for me.)

1. I am a Ranger that tells you I primarily want to be a fighter. Please suggest the main 8 skills and spells you would recommend to me that will help me become the type of Ranger I plan to be. (In naming the 8 you may include skills and spells combined, or solely skills or solely spells.)

2. I am a Ranger that tells you I primarily want to be a healer. Again, recommend the main 8 spells and/or skills I should learn.

3. I am a Ranger that wants to fight well yet learn some skills to practice nature magic to balance myself. Again, recommend the main 8 spells and/or skills I should learn.

4. A young Ranger that is not a high enough level to go through the Guild portals to access the higher training areas wishes to learn Guild-taught skills higher from another player. Why might you as a Mentor recommend that a Ranger not do this?

C. KNOWLEDGE OF SITUATIONS

1. A player without a Guild tells you he or she wants to be a Ranger and asks you for any help you can give them regarding locating the Guild or the Stag. What would you tell the prospective Ranger?

2. A relatively new Rangers come to you and asks, "How do I get my title?" What would your response be?

3. I am a young Ranger that has just shouted "I'm dead, I need a rezz" four times over the Guildshouts. Explain to me what is wrong with my shouting and give me an example of the way a request for a resurrection should be done, and how frequently, as according to the Guild Resurrection Policy. Give an example of a proper shout.

4. Name a simple quest other than the example below that you have already completed, and pretend a student has asked you to help them with that particular quest. Use an ingenious way of hinting to the solution to the quest but do not tell the student directly.

Example:
Bright yellow flower, Adventurer's Guild.

I would tell the student: "I hear that the item needed to be offered grows naturally around the towns of Terris."

5. A student of yours has demanded that you lead them on a quest or give them gold, saying that you're his or her Mentor, and it's your "duty." Explain what you would tell this student, and what course of action you might take if the student refuses to stop badgering you.

6. A student requests that you explain to him or her the importance of tithing to the Guild. Explain the importance of tithing to your Guild.

7. You have observed that your student needs to learn some hunting etiquette. Explain to him or her your ideas of what proper hunting etiquette is.

AGREEMENT OF TERMS

What follows is what can be considered the Ranger Mentor Charter. Signing your name at the end of this Application certifies that you understand and agree to each of the following terms. Upon approval of Mentorship, you will be expected to follow each, and it is your responsibility to adhere to them at all times. These are taken extremely seriously.

I understand that as a Mentor it is my duty to aid anyone of this Guild and of Terris whenever I am able to do so. I will do my best to help others using my knowledge and when I find I cannot explain something I will find another who can help me.

I agree that I will be expected to have lots of patience to tolerate those that need the answering of simple questions and even of questions I have repeated frequently or I think they should know.

I agree to maintain good behavior at all times, to be respectful and responsible, even to those that do not necessarily treat me in the same manner.

I understand that my actions, good or bad reflect upon myself, my Guild and my Program. I understand that any harassment of others through emoting or through the various types of speech, even in jest, or other hurtful misbehavior done by me may lead to a suspension or removal from this Program.

I promise to try my best to remain calm even in situations where it is difficult to do so, and resolve any conflict I am involved in in a responsible and civil manner.

I understand that I will be expected to reply to mails, attend meetings, give feedback or provide information when requested, seek students and take on those assigned to me by the Team Leader or Mentors GL, follow the Program Guidelines and do my best to help anyone that comes to me in need.

I will not disobey any Terris law, for example by leading anyone to quests they have not solved on their own, helping others transfer items between characters, harassing others or abusing Terris commands such as report, roleplay, shout, guildshout, tell and message, etc.

My signature that follows affirms all of the above and my desire to have this document reviewed by the Mentors GL for approval of my request to be an official Ranger Mentor.
