I was born on the 9th day of Hallow Month, in the year 282, under the sign of Apollus. My mother and father were joyful people…great Wizards of the Clan Equin. They cared greatly for the education of my brother Malyon and I and I spent hours a day studying the great history and magic of the world. I would practice magic for hours a day…my power began to grow. I…like my brother as well had a certain gift…a natural ability to control the elements…something my parents had not possessed. As I grew older my power grew…even with no training. The elemental magic within me would manifest itself in my physical form. My parents began to fear my abilities…certain that this attunement would draw me towards the Dark Arts of magic. I could not reassure them. My heart was true and good…but something inside drove me to seek a better understanding of elemental magic. I would not learn it here…so I left the tribe, seeking out to fulfill what I felt to be my destiny. I wandered the lands…learning what I could from those who would teach me…learning on the doorstep of a dark guild in Tranos for a time. I studied the lands…I listened to them…I found a home in the remote places of the world, listening as the earth revealed its secrets to me. I had been traveling through the dark forest north of the Great city of Devardec…where I had made my new home. I had been looking for something for a long time. I had heard of a great order of men and women who shared the same love for the lands that I did. They were the protectors and guardians of the world…the pioneers of new lands and knowledge. I had heard them called Rangers. I sat in the forest and listened…I heard the great earth call to me…in the Air it whispered to me…light rain fell and the water on the ground collected and ran off through the thick vines as if to point the way. I followed to direction of the elements to a great redwood…towering above much of the forest. I made my way in. I have grown much stronger as a member of the Guild…and much wiser. I have learned to master the magics of nature and the elements. I now use my bow to channel my magic. I continue to wander the lands and to study the great magic of the earth and the elements. I swear my allegiance to Hwin and to the Lady Cassandra. I will be a protector of these great lands and its people. My name…is Anduan. |
