The Story of Ayashi
My village is small. Far to the North in the frozen lands. My tribe is that of gypsies or nomads some call us. We travel to eat, to feed the elders and the children, to bask in the sun when the weather permits. It has always been so, and will go on til there are none left.
I am called Ayashi, its meaning.. Little one.. I am small for my size. Most of my clan are tall, light of hair and dark of skin. But I fear I am none of those. I am pale skinned and hair the color of fire. Neither of parents are of such colorings nor size. I was learning to be shaman, when I left the tribes. I was promised to one, who was not of my choosing. I could no more marry this man than I could cut off my hand. There most be love. A kindness between folk, and understanding that runs deep and fast. A gentleness that touches the soul if those words are more to the understanding.
I am Ayashi, and I have come here to make my home, among those who understand the way of the nomad, yet are free of the clan laws. I admit I am hard to know, and a loner, but I am worth knowing should ye care to make the effort. I am loyal and truthful to a fault. I am simple and to the point.
A shaman I will be, here in this grove, in this tree.. healer for the lands and those around me. Tis the call of my heart and I shall answer.
