Calith sits by a small campfire the dancing flames casting shadows across his face, he tells his story to any of the guild who wish to hear it: The fight went on for what seemed like days, a tall beautiful feline strode through the enemies, her sword catching the moonlight as it entered and exited bodies, each time it did another enemy died. Her son stood close by laying a constant rain of arrows onto the evil spiders. They were the last two, a whole pride gone in less than a day, he couldn’t believe it, as the image of his father and brothers being killed came to him, he let out a howl of pain and anger and dropped his bow, his arrows spent, he drew his sword and followed after his mother. The battle did not last much longer, spiders are cowardly creatures, once you killed most of them they flee. The young feline ran to his mothers side as she collapsed, one of the last spiders to flee had bitten her. He knew she was going to die, knew the venom the spider carried was deadly, he watched helplessly as the life ebbed away from the last person in this world he loved. The toxin was fast acting she only had time to say she loved him before her inner fire was extinguished. The cub sat for many hours staring at his mother, tears flowing freely through his ash blonde fur, down his cheeks and onto the floor. The sun was setting by the time he had finished his duties, it had taken two full days to bury the dead, and remove the spiders to a clearing to be burned. He stood staring at the graves of his family, with a simple prayer he walked away, his retrieved bow slung over his shoulder. He spend many years by himself hunting down the spiders and killing them one by one, he had become a shadow, the only warning the spiders had was a soft whistling before the arrow killed them. Once his revenge was complete he began to search out the large cities his parents had talked about. It was not long before he found the city called Devardec, from the adventurers he talked to, he learnt of a guild dedicated to the protection of the forests and decided to search them out. It took only a matter of days before the young feline found what he was looking for. As he entered the guild Calith thought to himself “a new home, a new beginning.” |
