The Story of Jonayla

On the 11th eve of the rainy season a terrified, pregnant young elven woman showed up on the doorstep of Iza and Brek. Soaked to the core from the rain, and exhausted from labor, the young woman collapsed. The elderly couple of Gnome healers acted quickly to deliver the child, but unfortunately the young woman had lost too much blood, and died not long after birthing her daughter. Being the kind gentle souls they were, Iza and Brek decided to name the young girl Jonayla and raise her as their own.

Always an outcast among the other children, I spent most of my youth studying the healing arts from Iza or training in marksmanship with Brek. I would spend hours upon hours roaming the mountainsides and river valleys with Iza looking for herbs, berries and barks with healing powers. She would explain to me the names and what powers they held, and how to use them properly. She taught me to respect nature and all it gives. Berk would take me on long hunting excursions, showing me how to track to various creatures and tame wild beasts. Still I longed for something…… On the 18th anniversary of my birth I set out in search of my purpose, leaving the only home I had ever known, unsure of what was to come.

Alone I wandered through the forest, waiting for a sign. Here I lived for nigh on 6 months before my sign appeared, in the form of a White Stag. As if in a dream I followed this animal, for who knows how long before I came to the base of the most magnificent tree I have ever seen, The Giant Redwood. At once I knew this was the place I belonged. After whispering as short prayer, I slayed the stag and pledged myself to Rangers.

The Redwood is now my home and the Rangers my family….This is where I belong, and history continues
Every Ranger has a tale or two to tell, a jest to make, or a battle to retell. This is simply my Tale as a Ranger amongst many other things.

As some of you may know I was orphaned at birth and raised by an elderly gnome couple far in the mountains of the north and I do not know much of my real parents.

At 18 I left my home and set out to make a life for myself. While wandering the woods I met a man, a Ranger named Aethelraed, who told me of his life as a forest guardian and the mystical stag with whom would decide my place in the forest. After much training I searched out the spiritual stag and encountered him on those scared burial grounds, both our blood was shed that day but I stumbled away victorious and made my way to the Redwood where I was greeted with open arms. Surprisingly I made friends rather quickly, and under the guidance of rangers such as Lucivar, Daystar, Sylvanna, Dragonbane and many others, I learned the ways of the lands and the history of the guild.

Lacking in hunting skills I prefer to be the healer of the group, but I do not hesitate to notch an arrow if there is need. I have a very healthy appetite fir knowledge and can often be found leaning against the Redwood, or lolling about in a branch with my nose crammed in book or scroll of some form. I know a good deal of stories and if ya ask me sometime, maybe I’ll tell ya one ::winks::

A little while back I was elected a Ranger GL and given the position of Scribe. For those who do not know what that means….a scribe: logs events and rp’s for guild history and posts; is in charge of updating guild documents, notices and any relating sites or information; will post for any person in the guild not able to post for themselves; acts as a guild spokes person along with the GM; is a guild story teller and helps to keep verbal history as well as written history alive; also holds board events and helps in all other requested events; plus they can buy luck. ::grins:: Now I know that must sound like the most boring job ever……..but it’s not! I am very honored to have been elected a GL and I love my job!

I also walk other paths in my life as a Ranger. I follow Lord Rexington in the life of love and reside as an Arch Priestess and temple leader under his guidance. Most who know me, know all to well what a huggie and lovie person I am. Then again I am sure there are some who know my evil twin as well, who finds power in the wind as a member of the Household of The Braves. Much like the wind I can be calm and soothing as a summers breeze one moment or as loud and fierce as a tornado the next.

And that’s me………at least for now ::winks::
